DesignBeyondFurniture

Trade fair stand for Köln International School of Design

Köln International School of Design (KISD) was invited to present at the internationally renowned Salone Satellite in Milan in March 2009, portraying its progressive outlook on design. Amongst the hundreds of furniture stands at the Salone, our concept “Design Beyond Furniture” showcased work selected from the school's twelve areas of expertise.

Contrary to the general views and stereotypes of design, we aimed to demonstrate the diverse and sometimes unconventional fields in which we are currently working in, such as the service sector, audio visual media and even gender differences, to name a few.

The stand itself incorporated distinctive optical art, 'sinking' furniture and 3D effects that, by playing with the dimension of the stand, refer to the breaking down of borders in the design world. Several large screens were used to present student projects from the last three years.
