Sub-Concious - UndergroundInteraction
Glasgow Subway is the third oldest underground metro in the world and has evolved only gradually since its opening in 1896.
With the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 expected to bring thousands
to the city, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport have become interested
in bringing the service into the 21st Century.
It is almost impossible to improve the network of the system
so the SPT turned to design to experiment with how the modern
user interfaces with their service.
Sub-concious is an interactive display system that entertains and informs users. LivingSurfaces technology underfoot enables users to interact with the displays above as well as other users.
As well as giving the old Glasgow Subway a new and modern appearence the design is also intended to build on the brand of the local icon by being a hub for local information and advertising that can be consumed whilst on the go.
The design also tackles some other friction points and design issues such as orientation of new users and improving advertisment revenue.
